Campus Question – April 7, 2012

Tonight’s question, greetings, and social banter here. (More)

Tonight’s Campus Question

Senator John Kerry’s odd tweet on the Red Sox opening day loss has sparked debate about whether he’s a real Red Sox fan. Yet GOP frontrunner Mitt Romney spawned similar issues last year when he expressed surprise that the Tampa Bay Rays play baseball indoors, as they have since 1998. In the presidential debates this October, should candidates be asked about the Infield Fly Rule non-call during the 2008 World Series?

I think the presidential candidates should required to submit hand-completed scorecards from their home teams’ past ten games, with mustard and/or beer stains, plus a three-page single-spaced essay on the Infield Fly Rule, to 5th Circuit Judge Jerry Smith, who will then submit them be graded by Keith Olbermann and George Will. Extra credit points should be awarded for citations to Bernard Malamud’s 1952 novel The Natural, and points deducted for use of the phrase “If you build it, they will come,” unless pre-approved by both Kevin Costner and James Earl Jones. K?

Mitt would first have to check with one of his friends who owns a baseball team.
