Campus Question – February 3, 2012

Tonight’s question, greetings, and social banter here. (More)

Tonight’s Campus Question

First came President Obama’s intentionally awful spilled milk joke in the State of the Union. Then David Axelrod’s tweet on proper canine transport. Then the president’s “In Case You Missed It” on the Trump-Romney endorsement. Then Jay Carney saying he would not “comb over” that event. And today, after an exceptionally strong jobs report, President Obama told Congress: “Don’t muck it up.” Does the “sassy” Team Obama make you smile?

As befitting BPI’s ongoing commitment to political etiquette, I asked your lowly mail room clerk to comment. Here is her reply:

    Dear Campus Question:

We note that President Obama has long used humor effectively. While the events of the past days have offered more opportunities for humor than usual, we see no reason to characterize it as “new.”

    From the last link:

All of this is just to say: Obama’s staffers have given us performance anxiety about our own sass levels. Is Axelrod available for a quick consultation on this kicker?

I love the new sass but I do have a tad bit of performance anxiety myself. I only hope that some of this isn’t too high brow for the opposition to understand. It’s terrible to be the butt of a joke you didn’t get. Plus, my thanks to Gail Collins for managing to insert the air dog into every column.

I groaned at spilled milk. I call it father in law humor.
